富山県魚津市。東京から2時間半、人口約４万人の小規模な都市の、さらに駅から徒歩18分のはずれ、「埋没林博物館」のエントランスホールにキニナルはひっそりと建っています。埋没林は、砂の中で木が化石になった珍しいもので、日本の天然記念物に指定されています。
開館から64年が経過し、残念ながらほとんど人が訪れなくなってしまった、このマニアックな博物館と周辺地域を回復するプロジェクトを通してキニナルは誕生し、現在では地域の新名所になりました。
